Recently, the Department of Internal Market Protection of the Eurasian Economic Commission issued an announcement that, upon the application of union enterprises, it has decided to initiate safeguard measures on imported tinplate. The products involved are tinplate made of iron or non-alloy steel, with a width of not less than 600 millimeters, thickness less than 0.5 millimeters, and with a tin coating or tin content exceeding 97%. This announcement will take effect from March 16, 2026.
This development indicates that the international trade environment carries a certain degree of uncertainty. For metal packaging companies focused on export business, it is necessary to closely monitor changes in trade policies in key target markets, actively respond to potential trade barriers, and at the same time, develop diversified markets to mitigate risks.
